Getting to Know David Camarda

Dave holds an Associate in Applied Science – Fire Science Degree, which he acquired from Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. He is also a graduate of two prestigious programs: the Staff and Command Course (2012) from the, Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute, and the Municipal Leadership Certificate Program (2014) from Pennsylvania State University.

David holds multiple national certifications, including Firefighting Level II, Fire Officer Level IV, Fire Investigator, Fire Instructor Level II, Fire Inspector Level II, Hazardous Materials Operations Level, and Fire Department Safety Officer.

From the PA Department of Health, David was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-B (EMT-B) and as a Vehicle & Special Vehicle Rescue Technician. PEMA (Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency) also certified him as a Professional Level Emergency Manager.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dave served in various capacities across the fire and emergency services sectors. Notably, he worked as a career firefighter with the Norristown, PA, Fire Department, where his management of the department’s radio communications system brought in several technological advancements.

Another distinguished role was Deputy Fire Chief of the King of Prussia Fire Company, which eventually awarded David a Life Member status, and was awarded 4 Unit Citations, one specifically for saving a life.

Lastly, before his retirement in 2024, Dave served as Fire Marshal for Whitpain Township, Montgomery County, PA, as well as Emergency Management Coordinator and EMS Coordinator.

Dave has also made significant contributions to regional emergency response initiatives. He is the Founding Member and past Chairman of the Montgomery County Incident Support Team. In the Southeast PA Regional Task Force, he was Chairman of both the Emergency Response Workgroup and the Fire Sub-Group.

In 1988, Dave led a committee to form the first Fireground Emergency Evacuation procedure. This procedure was one of the first such emergency operations procedures prepared for the Montgomery County, PA. fire service.

Dave has been a guest lecturer at 4 International and national emergency services conferences. Dave has been published twice, edited two professional publications and has been quoted twice.

Dave is a founding member of the Montgomery County (PA) Municipal Fire Officers Association.
